Two of the First Sentences that Someone Learning a New Language might Learn is “My Name is…” and “What is your Name?” Most People Saying these Sentences have a Hard time Pronouncing the Word Name because the “ e “ at the end of the word is silent and the Vowel “a‘‘can be Pronounced in Several different Ways. In this Case and in other Cases where the Word ends with a Vowel, then a Consonant, and then an e (example: name) the e is not Pronounced at all and the Vowel before the Consonant is Pronounced as a Long Vowel, Meaning that the Vowel is Pronounced as it is Pronounced in the English Alphabet. This is a Rule for other Words Ending with a Vowel, Consonant, and then e . Examples include gate, wake, dine, flute, size, tote and the same rule is applied to Pronounce them. The Words all end with a Vowel, then Consonant, then e and for each of them the e is Silent and the Vowel is a long Vowel, Pronounced how each of the Vowels are Pronounced in the Alphabet.if you are interesting to learn more about sounds of American English Click here.
